Veer Pahariya calls himself and brother Shikhar Pahariya ‘very simple people’; adds “Janhvi and Khushi are my first actor friends in the industry”
Veer Pahariya's debut film, Sky Force, opened to an impressive Rs 15.30 crores on its first day. The young actor has also received praise for holding his own alongside superstar Akshay Kumar in the movie.
Speaking exclusively to News18 Showsha, Veer shared that the overwhelming response hasn’t fully sunk in yet. He said, “I haven’t eaten or slept in days. I don’t know if you can see it in my face (laughs). But I’m very, very happy about it because I was waiting for it. I gave my life and soul to Sky Force. It’s been a journey of more than three years.”
He further shared, “I may have been working on films for many years but there were long periods of waiting too. I waited for a time like this when I wouldn’t have the time to do anything else except for work. I’m very happy with the rejections I had and the tests I had go through because they made me stronger. I think as an artist, it’s okay to be in love with your work but your work also needs to bring in money because there are producers investing in your film. I’m very grateful to everyone for accepting me.”
The response from Veer Pahariya's family has been overwhelming, including from his grandfather, Sushilkumar Shinde, the former Chief Minister of Maharashtra. “My family is very proud of me for being a part of Sky Force,” Veer shared. Speaking of his family, Veer and his elder brother, Shikhar Pahariya, are often in the spotlight as paparazzi favorites, frequently spotted attending high-profile events.
When asked about his bond with his elder brother Shikhar, a horse rider and professional polo player, Veer described him as a friend and confidant. “He’s not in the public eye. He isn’t very accessible. To me, he’s a friend figure. He’s someone I can go to if I need personal or professional advice. We talk about everything and we’re very close. Both he and I are very normal. We’re very simple people. We don’t care about materialistic things. Experiences are more important for us,” Veer shared.
Shikhar may stay away from the limelight due to his profession, but his relationship with Janhvi Kapoor often keeps him in the headlines. Janhvi, who has been praising Veer for his debut, holds a special place in his life. Speaking about her, Veer shared, “Janhvi and Khushi (Kapoor) are my first actor friends in the industry.” As for Khushi, who debuted recently and is a contemporary, Veer confidently states that he doesn’t view the new generation of actors as competition.
Veer emphasizes the importance of embracing new talent in the industry, saying, “I think it’s very good and important for new talents to come in. I don’t look at it as competition. It’s more like a collaboration. If I’m able to learn something from another artist and they’ve their unique style and voice, it will only help me and the industry in getting more viewers. I think, the more, the merrier,” Notably, Veer previously worked as an assistant director on Varun Dhawan’s Bhediya.
