Music maestro AR Rahman and his wife, Saira Banu, have announced their decision to separate after 29 years of marriage. The couple, who tied the knot in 1995 through an arranged marriage, shared their decision via a statement released by Saira’s lawyer, Vandana Shah. Later, Rahman took to his X (formerly Twitter) handle to confirm the news and express his emotions during this challenging time.
In his heartfelt post, Rahman wrote, “We had hoped to reach the grand thirty, but all things, it seems, carry an unseen end. Even the throne of God might tremble at the weight of broken hearts. Yet, in this shattering, we seek meaning, though the pieces may not find their place again. To our friends, thank you for your kindness and for respecting our privacy as we walk through this fragile chapter.”

Ameen and Raheema Speak Out Following the announcement, Rahman’s children, Ameen and Raheema, also addressed the news, urging everyone to respect the family’s privacy. Ameen, Rahman’s son, reshared his father’s post and added, “We kindly request everyone to respect our privacy during this time. Thank you for your understanding.”
Raheema, Rahman’s elder daughter, echoed the sentiment, writing, “I would greatly appreciate it if this matter could be treated with the utmost privacy and respect. Thank you for your consideration.” Their younger sibling, Khatija, also joined in requesting privacy for the family as they navigate this difficult period.
