Dimple Kapadia reveals quirky request from Christopher Nolan on Tenet set; says, “He asked me to leave my earrings behind after filming”
Christopher Nolan's admiration for India has been evident throughout his career, with the acclaimed director choosing India as a filming location for two of his notable works, The Dark Knight Rises (2012) and Tenet (2020). In The Dark Knight Rises, Nolan filmed parts of Bruce Wayne's journey in Jodhpur, Rajasthan, showcasing India's landscapes as a compelling backdrop. For Tenet, Nolan returned to the country, shooting action sequences in Mumbai, highlighting India's bustling cityscape as an integral setting for the story’s complex narrative. Recently, Dimple opened up about her experience working with Nolan, recounting memorable moments on set
Recalling a memorable moment, she mentioned Nolan’s unique request regarding her earrings. “I went for a fitting, and I promptly took out my earrings and wore them. Christopher Nolan turned around and said, ‘Oh, they’re lovely. You can leave them behind after your shoot,’ and I did,” she shared in an interview with Vogue India.
Dimple Kapadia also praised Tenet’s costume designer, Jeffrey Kurland, for his patience with her quirks. “Jeffrey was really kind. He took all my nonsense and bullsh*t. He struggled with me, poor guy. But what a look he created it was absolutely beautiful!” she shared, acknowledging his efforts in crafting her memorable appearance in the film.
Tenet, a science fiction action thriller, stars John David Washington, Robert Pattinson, Elizabeth Debicki, Michael Caine, Kenneth Branagh, and Dimple Kapadia in key roles. The story follows a former CIA agent recruited by a secret organization to unravel the mystery of objects moving backward in time and their connection to an impending attack from the future.
