Veteran actress Saira Banu has been using her social media platform to share captivating chapters from her illustrious life in the film industry. In her recent Instagram post, Saira Banu fondly recounted the making of her debut Hindi film, Junglee, which featured the iconic Shammi Kapoor in the lead role. She delved into the details of her first scene in the film and the kind words of praise she received from the popular star.
Saira Banu chose to share snippets of her initial scene with the renowned actress Lalita Pawar on her Instagram. Sharing the same, Saira Banu wrote in caption, “Moving ahead, I love to remember my very first shot which was a scene shared with the commanding persona of Lalita Pawarji who played a very authoritative and highly principled mother to the hero Shammi Kapoor whose character was etched in the very same mould of lofty mannerisms. When I did this scene all my nervous reactions to the bellowing dialogues said to me by Lalita Pawarji got very natural reactions of innocent replies to her shooting these darting questions at me. When Shammiji saw this scene in front of the whole unit he said. “Do you know Saira your tremendous innocence is your most attractive trait? God Bless You! But one day as you grow up in your life and your career, you will miss this innocence --- It is precious. It will never come back.”
The actress further added, “My very first appearance on the screen ever after the display of Billboards all over the country saying “The Curtain will be raised soon to greet the “Beauty Queen”. The Director Subodh Mukherjee shot the first scene between Shammi Sahab and Me at Kufri, Simla amidst mountains of snow where the heroine playfully, cleverly bounces snow-balls at Shammiji and hides behind a mound of snow. The first shot on screen is when she slyly emerges from behind this mound of snow and that is the first time the public sees her.”
“Thereon emanates the first squabble and battle between the “Yahoo” Hero and Heroine with Chahey Koi Mujhe Junglee Kahay …Yahoo! Shammiji was a maestro in these scenes. He created the popular term “Yahoo” for everyone here! This became a famous exclamation term with the public all over. Tomorrow, I will share more fascinating insights and anecdotes about "JUNGLEE" and Shammiji and my cinematic journey,” the actress concluded.
